Doesn't H.264 recoding hurt the image quality? This is about the size of 3 usual 1080p features. But how many movies's box office sum Avatar has made? You don't think Avatar deserve this size?

hate to break it to you, but AVC = H.264, like most blurays. the difference is, the 38GB of insane bitrate makes it lossless.

Home cinemas simply arent ready for 3D yet, even if its released right now very few people could actually watch it at home. Kind of like the movie itself, they had to wait for more cinemas to install proper 3D projectors.

I've downloaded both the 10g and 30% of the this one and I have to say that the quality of this one is incomparable. The other is decent...but this is SUPERB.

However on both movies, the size is only 1080 x 1080 I think...they both don't seem to be widescreen. Any comments?

i think english refers to no subtitles except for when the navi are talking in there language, then the english subtitles appear, and then english force refers to english subtitles the whole movie...but thats just what i think. anyway im at 39.7%

Come on guys, seed! I know there are several people who have completed the download. At one point I saw 3 seeders last night, then 2 then 1 and as of this moment there are 2 again. So people has actually finished downloading this but they're not seeding! It's a big file, we need to help each other out!

This can sometimes happen with VLC, sometimes when trying to play an incomplete file it will play the most recently opened file or DVD.

I finished this file yesterday, I'm seeding. Having a hard time getting it to play smooth, my computer isn't too slow (2ghz core 2 duo, 4GB ram, geforce 8600GT) it's completely unplayable in VLC (skips a lot) same with KMplayer, and MPC/nero with DXVA decoding, but "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder" works alright in windows media player and KMplayer. It also plays alright in Media Player Classic Home Cinema, with DXVA turned off. Still not playing as smooth as i'd like though :(

MPC using the default ffdshow decoder definitely seems to play it the smoothest on my mediocre system.

if anyone is having problems playing this, i highly recommend you install "Media Player Classic - HomeCinema"

For anyone that is curious I was downloading this one and the "AMIABLE" one (mkv, 10.9GB), and took screenshots of the same frame in both versions. The quality on this one is definitely higher in the still, but in motion I can't entirely tell the difference (granted it's only from ~1s of motion before this one skips ahead). Also, there are 2 black pixels at the top in this version, losing those same 2 pixels off the bottom. Again, I doubt those 2 pixels contain anything game breaking, but just FYI.

actually, major difference between this rip and the AMIABLE rip is that the AMIABLE actually has subs.

With no subs for Navi speaking, you won't know whats happening through a lot of the movie.

I had to watch the AMIABLE rip after 6-7 hours of trying to get this to play properly and play with subs. So, i larely consider this torrent completely useless unless someone actually has working subs.

try my subtitle which has been copied (ripped) directly from the American Blu Ray release. It includes all the Na'vi spoken dialogue as well. It's perfectly synced as well obviously.

I see a lot of these Avatar releases are from Region 2 Blu Rays. If you try to use Region 2 subtitles with Region 1 video, it won't sync properly.

It's you, to play this use either VLC media player, or preferably Media Player Classic Home Cinema. You can google to find both of them. You will also need to get the alien english subs. A link was posted, earlier in the forum. Good Luck!

Someone posted the Navi subs, is there a way to hard code these into the video so it will always play back with the Navi subs (not needing an extra file that you have to select to use). I know it's easy to do with a MKV but, not sure on a TS..

It's really worth the wait, quality is absolutely great. That is, if you can play it from a mediatank with local harddisk or you have a really fast PC. Mine cannot playback 40Mb/sec, and streaming this load might be a bit too much for your network connection...

Check the bit rates, This one is a full Blu-ray movie only rip with no compression (will look the best), and as the size goes down, so does the bit rate and the quality of the video/audio.

Don't get me wrong, even the smallest one looks really good but, this would be the best out of all of them (or the other 45gb one, that one just has extras on it).

Looking for Seeders, my Avg has gone down to 79.6kB/s (from 211kB/s 2 days ago). I'm at almost 85%, come on, let me watch this tonight !!!! Please ?????

it will flicker if ure pc is to slow to run the 36mb bit rate ... and it depends on what media player u are using VLC makes me lag but powerdvd is running it fine.

just to let everyone know this file contains no subtitles. not even for the parts where they are speaking navi. so unless u already have the subs from another bdrip i dont suggest downloading this one. there is a couple other torrents for the complete avatar bluray (46gb or so) which contains all audio and sub streams.

Ok, so I have the file and played it in VLC Player :

1. The video goes smooth for a few seconds, than gets choppy, than smooth, etc..

2. The audio works fine.

My Laptop:
- Macbook Pro 17"
- 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 4 GB Ram
- NVIDIA 256 MB

hey guys i posted earlier that this remux has absolutley no subtitles including the subtitles for when they are speaking navi. well someone on the internet figured out how to seperate the forced subtitles from the english subtitles here is the link. http://forum.videohelp.com/attachments/1566-1272312147/Avatar.track_4608.zip

now keep in mind this is a pgs stream and should only be used if u plan on remuxing the video and buring it on a bluray in bdmv format. for all you other people who wish to keep it in a mkv container you must convert it to srt format first.

if you are using media player classic to play the movie renaming the subtitle file to the same name as the movie file should work. if that doesnt work you need to download tsmuxer and mkvmerge gui here are the links:

ok, now what you do is drag the m2ts file into the tsmuxer gui and select demux under the output section, also dont forget to select the output path so you know where the demuxed files will be. next you open mkvmerge gui (after installing mkvtoolnix first obviously) drag the two demuxed streams (should be a 264 file and a dts file of some kind), and the srt subtitle you downloaded into mkvmergegui. select your output path and name and hit start. after that you should have a mkv file with video audio and subtitle. note: some players dont support dtshd-ma, if this is the case with your player when u demux the video and audio for the audio check the box in tsmuxer that says downconvert dts-hd to dts.

For those having trouble playing it in VLC, try Zoom Player or some of the other players out there, did the trick for me.

Rename it to the same as the video file (leave the srt extension) so if you renamed the video to 'Avatar.ts' make sure subtitle is named 'Avatar.srt' make sure its in the same folder as the video file.

In Movist's subtitle preferences select Text Encoding "Unicode UTF-8" see this pic:

The subfile will be automatically loaded, it is detected as 'Subrip' and you can see it in the Subtitle Menu in Movist.
