Gets stuck on " Preparing iPhone for backup " or something. After that gives an " unknown error 1064 " if i'm right.

That's not how the jailbreak works. An ispw with Cydia in it just won't install because it's not signed by Apple. PwnageTool forces the iPod to load it by hacking the bootloader. You'll just have to wait.

Doesn't work for me, despite no problem with previous versions. Continually quits while creating the ipsw. Maybe wait for Quick version.

WHEN WILL the PPC Version WORK at all? I have done EVERYTHING to coax it to work, new user account, deleted prefs & App Support files, deleted /tmp/ipsw directory, DFU & Restore modes, nothing gets this sucker to work, not even an ipsw created on an Intel Mac & sent to me. I don't know why the CustomRestore ipsw file doesn't even work for my iPhone 3G 16GB, hopefully a working PPC PwnageTool 3.0.x will do the trick.

3GS has been confirmed can be un lockable and Jail broken
People who want the mobile installation patch 3.0 it isn't out yet but there is AppSync for OS 3.0.
1. Go to Cydia.
2. Go to Manage and then go to Sources.
3. Add http://cydia.hackulo.us (If you haven't adready.)
4. Search AppSync.
5. Install it and restart your iPhone/iPod Touch and sync your cracked .ipas
And You're Done !
The 3GS jailbreak will be here soon check the dev blog and you will see all the info. And ultasn0w is already compatible with the 3GS.

ok when i try to use pwnagetool 3.0, the application "quits unexpectedly" while it's in the process of building the custom .ipsw. can anyone tell me why this is happening/ what i do to fix it?
