Many people were having the following errors on startup-

"wargame-g4wlive.exe you cannot run the game with modified executable code"

"To play gears of warPlease double click startup.exe"

Many people couldn't fix these. The first one is just an out of date license, this requires you to set back your PC clock. That can be very annoying and inconvenient.

I just packaged the game and fixes in one place so it's easy for people.

The image should be the only file in the GOW folder. It will show up as a winrar archive, but don't extract it. Mount it with DAEMON Tools. If you already extracted it, there may be an autorun or install file to click on. Otherwise hit ctrl+a in the folder and right click -> add it to an archive, then mount it.

There may be compression programs out there to do it. I used DVDShrink for movies, but I don't think it will work with large game images. Check afterdawn.com or google it. Otherwise you need a dual layer dvd. I personally just mount images with daemon tools or alcohol 120 to save money.

It's working fine for me BUT I get this glitch where every few minutes I lose control & my player moves sideways by itself! The only fix is hit ESC & Resume play. How do I fix this?!!

Is this game already patched to version 1.2? 'cause the crack is for 1.2 & says to apply update before copying over crack, but when I apply update 1.2, I get error (about startup.exe not right).

Hey Sankou.... My friend is playing this game with a cd-key of his gta iv... he and many others say that GoW and any other "games for windows" game will work with that cd-key... I also have GTA IV and I am wondering if I will be able to run this game with that cd-key and play it online too!? (simplified: if I use a legit cd-key, will the game work??)

You can save, just install 'games for windows live' and sign up for an offline account. And I'm not sure about the x-box to pc multiplayer thing, but I don't think you can.

The game installed and everything, but I'm having issues with it constantly crashing. I turned every single graphical setting to the lowest, resolution at rock bottom and in windowed mode. I really shouldn't have to, though, as I'm running a 4850 PowerCooler 1GB GDDR3, 2 GB DDR3 Patriot RAM, and an Athlon X2 dual core clocked at 2.8 ghz. I tried one solution where you disabled windows live profile, and it seemed to work. Problem is you can't save without a windows live profile. Any suggestions?

@ hugoman12, just read the Read Me file like Sankou says. All of the cracks and patches, such as the No CD crack and the fix for the license expiry issue, come with the game files, just follow the instructions and you\'ll be sweet. Just as an extra, make sure your computer has good specs/good cooling before playing, as I had my good laptop shut down twice while playing due to overheat.

Using win7 x64 I mounted the image with alcohol120. The autorun wouldn't work so I browsed the CD and just ran setup.exe.

Installation took a really long time. Even seemed like it was frozen on "decompressing files", but it went through.

Followed the instructions and game runs fine.

In order to save you have to download "Games for Windows Live" software: http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/Support/Pages/accountManagement.aspx
Then make a LOCAL/OFFLINE account from the drop down menu once your in the game.
There's also a no-intro fix at gamecopyworld
