Cadence OrCAD 16.0

Comments

bah bah รจ un circuito banale...
patcher error message:

"Wrong folder selected!"

C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools

so what's the correct folder?!
no info on this as far as I can see
It works for me :)

Do like this:

Better to disable firewall or make sure you donot block any of the orcad app nor the license manager
Follow these Steps (NOTE there are slashes in the file paths like after C:. for some reason they dont appear when I post the comment)
1. Install the license manager first by choosing Set Up Licensing from setup.exe. Donot enter any paths. for license file. Leave it blank.
2. Copy the contents of license_manager from SHooTERS folder to installed dir C:OrCADlicense_manager. Overwrite files.
3. Open orcad16.lic (stored on the hard drive not from the CD) in text editor and replace this_host with the name of the Computer (in the first line of the file), and save the file.
4. Run setup again and choose Set up License and enter the path of license file C:OrCADlicense_managerorcad16.exe .Click Next. Ignore the failure error and press Cancel.
5. Run setup again, and choose Install products, enter port as 5280 and host id/name as the name of your Computer. Next select the apps you want to install. Leave the installinfo and contr.. file paths blank.
6. After the installation is completed, go to Start->Programs->Cadence License Manager->License Manager Tools and change the path of license file to
C:OrCADlicense_managerorcad16.lic in the Config Services tab. (it would be some license.dat initially)
7. Click on Start Server button in the Satrt/Stop/Reread tab of the license manager utility. Next click on Reread License File. Wait for the reread operation to be completed (see status bar).
8. Now check if the Cadence License Manager service is running in the Control Panel->Administrator Tools->Services.
9. Now apply the patch
10. Done
Didn't work for me. Getting same error as user84601 from the patcher:

"Wrong folder selected!"

Get this no matter what folder I choose. Has anyone else got this working or run into this error?
I get the same error applying the patch.
"Wrong folder selected!"
Under windows vista, when i try to run setup, it says "not a valid win32 application"
ok i managed to extract it from disk, but after copying over files from shooters dir, then changing computer name, using setup to look for license file, it says its invalid, do i need to change the ID or anything else?
9. Now apply the patch

I get the same error applying the patch.
"Wrong folder selected!"

Anyone can help ??? Or dont download this app

Tx lot
Same error message here, patch cant seem to find the correct folder even when its in it.Anyone got a substitute patch?, the prog wont accept the licence (Invalid) unless its patched to the later version
hey reba256 everyone seems to have the same problem, me too when I apply the patch it says that the wrong folder was selected...in what folder did u iapply the patch??...and what windows version do u have??...pls anyone who has the answer reply to this
Dont bother wasting your bandwith-Useless upload, the license manager won't work and the orcad_16_patcher does not work- asks for directory on C: and then aborts ?? The intructions are ok, but unfortunately gives result =nil. Use 15.7 instead -works nicely. Hopefully someone can fix this?
but this program works or no??? Reba256 is the only one it works for? i received the same errors. there's quite a bit of seeders...obviously someone is using it. comment please!
I firstly tried installing it with only the components I wanted and it gave me the wrong folder error.

I then installed everything and it worked like a charm.

Try that out and it should work
This works fine. Plz remember to select all .

Under Vista , you may get "reread failed". if so follow this steps.

7.1 select "LMTOOLS ignores license path environment variables" in Licence Manager
service/license file tab. Try reread. if it succeed then add these environment variables .

My Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings and select environment variables . Then under system variables create a New variable

Varaiable name: PATH
Varaiable value : %CDSROOT%\tools\bin

Now it should work........... At least it worked for me....
Can anyone list the packages included in this 2 CD version. Also, why is this Shooters 2 CDs when a few months ago it was 5 CDs? I did not get the 5 CD one to work btw.
I have a problem, when I start any of the orcad applications the following error appears:

Error (LMF-02097) License call failed for feature "name_of_the application", version 16.000 and quantity one. The license server search path is define as 5280@"name_of_the_computer". The Flexnet error message is as follow, Flexnet ERROR (-97,0,0): The desired vendor daemon is down.

Run 'lic_error LMF-02097' for more information

What can I do to solve this problem?
I already did everything right but the same message appear and I cannot run any application.
If the patch does not run, the programs will fail to open.

The fix listed above works: Install ALL the programs (with the firewall and anti-virus disabled).

Run the patch.

Verify with LMTOOLS.EXE that the files under the Config-Services tabs all point to the Orcad license_Manager directory for Lmgrd.exe, Orcad16.lic, and debug.log

In the Orcad16.lic file, change only the text "this_host" with your computer name as listed using the RMB on My Computer>properties>Network Identification
If you get the ERROR message "The procedure entry point RWSetO2K3Color could not be located in the dynamic link library RWUXThemeS.dll".

In Win2000 the fix listed in the OrCadV16.txt file of changing the path did not work for me.

Copying RWUXThemeS.dll
from:
C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\bin
to:
C:/WINNT/system32
worked.
Followed reba256 instructions and it really runs.
Complete with PSpice & PCB Designer and everything.
Great upload.
Thanx.
Some guys complain about the patch from Shooters that it disables the Parametric Sweep and Monte Carlo simulations, and they are right!

I found a workaround. In PSpice folder restore the 2 dlls that the crack has patched (you can do that easily if you have selected the backup option during the crack) and keep the rest intact. This will enable all the additional Simulation Options. I have noticed some instabilities (in File menu there appears an empty menu entry, which causes the application to crash if you put the mouse over it) but nothing else that will prevent proper functionality.
the wrong port@host or license file is being used, or the
port or hostname in the license file has been changed.
Server name: 192.168.0.101
License path: 5280@xxxxx-PC
FLEXnet Licensing error:-15,10. System Error: 10061 "WinSock: Connection refused"
For further information, refer to the FLEXnet Licensing End User Guide,
available at "www.macrovision.com".

also when i save the configuration service it say i need to be administrator to be able to save, in which I m the only working on this computer
andreshgr (and anyone having the LMF-02097 error): make sure you've copied over the cracked cdslmd.exe from the SHooTERS/license_manager directory on CD1. This got it working fine for me!
I have followed instructions on:
http://chetzdownload.blogspot.com/2008/02/download-cadence-orcad-16-shooters.html
which are very clear!! ((Can be found by searching on google: "download cadence orcad 16-shooters chetz"))

I do not have 'orcad16.lic' instead I have 'cadence.lic' apart from that I have followed these instructions fully up to step 18.

When i run the crack inside shooters folder in CD1 I dont get the same screen as the one shown.

I run the crack named "Cadence_Allegro_Patch" select the directory "C:\cadence\spb_16.0\tools" and dont have any of the options below this selection i.e. Backup the files will be modified. I have the option to click back, next of exit. I click next and it performs a check and fails with a message " This program cannot update the installed version of Cadence Allegro because C:\CADENCE\SPB_16.0\TOOLS\fet\bin\c2esch.exe unknown version. Also, I dont know if this is significant but, the update i am using is called Cadence Allegro Update Program..not Cadence OrCAD 16.0 Update.

Any ideas? The installations works, the ReRead License File completes..its just the patch. Can someone upload just the patch and submit a link here>>>
I have realised that I downloaded allegro from another site (not Orcad) I am in the middle of downloading Orcad now!! If any1 has any advice on a fix for allegro let me know on puresilk187@hotmail.com

I think it might be the .lic file or the mysterious c2esch.exe file
F1reball's workaround to enable parametric sweep an so on works!!!

BUT you only have to restore the original SimSetup.dll located in:

c:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\pspice\

Then there will be no errors or instabilities :)
Only one thing:
The patcher gave me that one file was skipped:
bin\a2dxf.exe -> Original file not existed, it has been skipped.

Will this do anything? Anyone else have the same notice?

Also, license update didn't work, and I'm on XP. Still, followed slf_kafir directions, and it worked like a charm.

Thanks
So I've got it all up and running, but I'm having trouble switching between equivalent tools.

When I start a new project in Layout, it opens the engineering edition CAD tools, which will do all post processing and layout just fine, but it doesn't have autoroute!

So I went to Tools>edit app settings and tried to modify where the program looked for Layout (to direct it to use Layout Plus).

This got the error "Registration mismatch. Incorrect Product version for Layout Plus."

Can someone please tell me how to get it such that this OrCad release uses Layout Plus, or whatever has Autoroute?

Thanks all!
Alright, for those of you who had similar problems to what I had:

Although I can't figure out how to use the autorouter, Specctra is available in this package. Below the autoroute option is one with Specctra. Launch it.

If it gives you an error about too many parameters, it is because the path isn't allowed to have spaces - underscores work though.
Unable to get to this point: "6. After the installation is completed, go to Start->Programs->Cadence License Manager->License Manager Tools". Cadence License Manager does not install. Followed all steps assiduously. LMTOOLS.exe did not automatically install, which is probably why. I tried just putting it there from another application, but no dice.
I couldn't even set up the license. got invalid error.
Confirm Working on my Ultimate 64bit vista.

I need to reboot after I did every steps tho..

Thx~
Hello! It has a problem in Layout. It opens *.max files with Layout Engineers' Edition and this version does not have autoroute. I tried to modify the settings in OrCAD Layout to open with Layout Plus, but it gives me an error: .... something related to the version. Use the old and fully working OrCAD 9.2 for autoroute. This is the only bug I've discovered so far.
This is it's path: *OrCAD\OrCAD 16\tools .... Did anyone try to modify the settings in Layout to open .max files with Layout Plus instead of Engineers's Edition? I tried. it give me the version error. I'm curious if someone with fully default paths tried to do so.
Hello everyone, i've managed to crack this version, after many hours of trying. I've edited the Shooters readme, so follow these steps carefully )) enjoy
1. Install the license manager first by choosing Set Up Licensing from setup.exe. Donot enter any paths. for license file. Leave it blank.

2. Copy the contents of license_manager from SHooTERS folder to installed dir C:\OrCADlicense_manager. Overwrite files.

3. Open orcad16.lic (stored on the hard drive not from the CD) in text editor and replace this_host with the name of the Computer (in the first line of the file)(You can find your computer name by clicking on "My computer" and choosing properties), and save the file.

4. Run setup again and choose Set up License and enter the path of license file C:\OrCAD\license_manager\orcad16.lic .Click Next. Ignore the failure error and press Cancel.

5. Run setup again, and choose Install products, enter port as 5280 and host id/name as the name of your Computer. Next select all the apps, because the patch wont work otherwise. Leave the installinfo and contr.. file paths blank.

6. After the installation is completed, go to Start->Programs->Cadence License Manager->License Manager Tools and change the path of license file to
C:OrCAD\license_manager\orcad16.lic in the Config Services tab.

9. Run orcad_16.0_patcher.exe and choose to back up files.

10. Now if you want to run simulations with advanced options, like "Parametric sweep" you need to go to the files you've backed up, "C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\PatchWise.bak\pspice", take the old .dll "SimSetup.dll" and replace with it the new one, in the "C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\pspice".

11. Done

If you get the ERROR message "The procedure entry point RWSetO2K3Color could not be located in the dynamic link library RWUXThemeS.dll", go in to environment variables and move the link "%CDSROOT%\tools\bin" in the Path variable to the beginning of it.

edited by Ruman
above method works 100%. but autoroute desabled in layout.
@Ruman
Thanks for guide

Now if you want to run simulations with advanced options, like "Parametric sweep" you need to go to the files you've backed up, "C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\PatchWise.bak\pspice", take the old .dll "SimSetup.dll" and replace with it the new one, in the "C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\pspice".

do we need to replace dll from PatchWise.bak\pspice to C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\pspice" or vice versa

Also when should that error which u said at end
normally appears while installing or running simulation
Having trouble with setting the path to orcad16.lic under Config services tab of LMTOOLS. I set it and when it saves it tells me "Failed to change FLEXlm License Server. You need to be an Administrator". Of course this causes Reread Server Failed. I'm using Vista 32, I am an administrator that I can tell, and I do see Cadence License Manger under Advanced system settings. I may need to change system settings so all ideas are great cause I dont know much about it. My email is deadmigit@hotmail.com please send me your comments
Conflicts with matlab 2008rb. Orcad PCB editor and Matlab both have a "xerces-c_2_7.dll" installed. Rename Matlab's dll to make Orcad pcb editor work and vice-verca. This is a real pain to do every time :(
hmm.. i have reread server failed in step 7. what shall i do?
For the patcher to work one must install ALL products and not just some products from the list.
Installed perfectly, am too worried about Autorouter not working.
hey

where to find .OrCad.v16.0 patcher.exe
When I downloaded this torrent and tried to open it with WINRAR, WINRAR said that the archive was damaged. How can I solve it?
I also had files for CD1 with names *.r30 to *.r47, i.e. not real RAR archive.
seed?
hey ppl. got this thing to work finally.

i had problems regarding step 7.
it said SERVER NOT FOUND.
this is what i did.

1: open license manager.
2: in server/license file, select config using lic file
3: locate ur orcad16.lic.
4: now in same tab select configuration using service (it shud select CADENCE LIC MGR)
5: select "LMTOOLS ignores license path environment variables" in same tab
6: goto START/STOP/REREAD
7: click START SERVER
8: u shud get it working now.
BINGO!!!!!
Hi -

Tried installing this on Windows 7 64-bit.

Having a few problems with the licensing server.

I followed all of @Ruman's and @zhonzi's steps, and none of the Server actions in the LM Tool work.

If I hit "Start Server", it says "Server Start Failed: The Server May Already Be Running!!".

If I hit "ReRead License File", it says "Reread Server Fail".

If I hit "Stop Server", it says "Unable to Stop Server".

When I tried to save the service configuration after modifying the "Path to the license file" field in the "Config Services" tab, it says "Failed to change FLEXlm License Server. You need to be an Administrator to perform this function."

Please note that I am on the Administrator's account.

Not sure what to do here. Again, I followed all the steps recommended and am still stuck!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
Update:

Realized that with Windows 7, you have to force the LMTools program to run with Administrator priveleges (Right click the executable => Properties => Compatibility tab => Checkmark the box that says: "Run this program as an administrator").

This got my license server running properly, however, when I try to run any of the executables (for instance, Capture.exe), it comes up with this error message:

"The procedure entry point RWResetO2K3Colors could not be located in the dynamic link library RWUXThemeS.dll".

Any idea how I can get a working copy of this file to replace it with the one I have?

I tried rerunning the patcher to see if that would work, to no avail.
Update 2:
Figured out how to work around the initial runtime error.

Note, after this fix, I got everything completely working using the instructions from @Roman, @zhonzi and the workarounds I posted.

If you are running this on Windows 7 64-bit and getting the initial runtime error:

"The procedure entry point RWResetO2K3Colors could not be located in the dynamic link library RWUXThemeS.dll"

Do the following:

Go to C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools\bin, and copy the file "RWUXThemeS.dll".

Paste that file into C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.

Now all of your OrCAD executables should run fine!
I am using Windows 7 64 bit...

i followed echo2004 instructions ....

when i click start server in license manager the server start is successfull but when i click reread license it is showing that

license reread is failed in status bar

please help me...

its urgent please somebody help.....
thank you echo2004 it works for me...

I am using Genuine Windows 7 64 bit

hi everybody! i have a windows 7 64bit and capture cis and pspice is working fine, a small problem in the beginning, but now it's working fine, exept i need to use a sw_topen, and a sw_tclose, (switchs) and when i run the project it gives me the error ERROR -- Subcircuit Sw_tClose used by X_U1 is undefined
ERROR -- Subcircuit Sw_tOpen used by X_U2 is undefined ! can anyone help me sory for my english
@cruzmeudeus
Hi, i think the problem you have is that the switches are not set. Those switches you are trying to use will open or close at a specified time after t=0. But pspice needs you to tell him what those times are.
hope this help!

Anyone can point me out to the patcher...
mfsd (at) gmx.com

Thanks in advance,
M
it wasn't easy but it works, make sure to ignore errors and use server for license and follow the directions. thanks scritz.
This is how I set it up on Windows 7 64bit

1. Launch (SETUP), proceed with the (License Agreement) and click on (Set Up Licensing). Do not enter or change any paths (leave them as is) click Next. (License File Needed) will popup (just click OK). Next, proceed with the installation of the (Cadence Licence Manager -> click NEXT, then with the (Installation Summary) -> Click NEXT. After the License Manager setup DO NOT CONTINUE with the (Install Products) install process for now (click NO). Steup Complete -> click FINISH

2. Now copy the contents of license_manager from SHooTERS folder to installed directory of C:\OrCAD\license_manager. Overwrite the 2 files.

3. Go into the installed folder on the hard drive (C:\OrCAD\license_manager) and Open (orcad16.lic) in a text editor (notepad) and (in the first line of the file) replace the word (this_host) (without the brackets) with the name of the Computer being installed on, and save the file. You will need the exact name of the computer - verify -> go to system properties -> (under the tab) Computer Name - will find "Full Computer Name:"

4. Launch the same (SETUP), proceed with the (License Agreement) and click on (Set Up Licensing), Now change (Specify the license file you received, then click Next.) Click on browse to enter the path of the license file C:\OrCAD\license_manager\orcad16.lic and click Next. Ignore the (Failure to load License File) error that popped up by clicking on OK and then press Cancel. The (Exit Setup) will ask are you sure? click yes.

5. Launch the same (SETUP), proceed with the (License Agreement) and click on (Install Products). (Release Orcad 16.0 Setup) will advise to turn off anti virus blah balh balh... - click OK.

6. (License Manager Communication) enter (Port Number) 5280 and (Host Name) as the name of your Computer that it will be installed on (same as step 3) and click Next. (Control File Location) leave it blank and click Next. (Select Products) you can select all the apps you want to install and then click Next. (Working Directory) - click Next. (Footprint Viewer) you can choose whatever you need or leave it at None - click Next. (Select Program Folder) - click Next. (installation Summary) - Click Next.

(Product File Extension Registration) will appear - you can choose Yes if you need it or No to leave it alone. (Text Editor File Extension Registration) will appear - you can choose Yes if you need it or No to leave it alone. Setup is completed - click Finish.

7. After the installation is completed, go to Start->Programs->Cadence License Manager->License Manager Tools in the Config Services tab. change "Path to the license file" (it would be some license.dat initially) change it (by using browse) to C:\OrCAD\license_manager\orcad16.lic and after click on "save Service" then YES. Don't close LMTOOLS yet.

8. Next Go to the tab (Start/Stop/Reread) and click on (Start Server) button (see status bar at bottom Server Start Successful). Next click on (Reread License File). Wait for the reread operation to be completed (see status bar at bottom Reread Server License Completed). Now you can exit.

9. Now check if the Cadence License Manager service is running in the Control Panel->Administrator Tools->Services.

10. Copy orcad_16.0_patcher.exe to the installed folder C:\OrCad and then run it - click on (Update). After it completes the (update patch), it will open a log file to notify which files were patched and skipped (if any).

11. Done

***For my install of the patch, I received 2 files that were skipped:
bin\a2dxf.exe -> Original file not existed, it has been skipped.
bin\dxf2a.exe -> Original file not existed, it has been skipped.

So far everything works for me
Followes [1Warlord] instructions and everything seems to be working fine, Nice upload, Thank You..

Followed [1Warlord] instructions and everything seems to be working fine, Nice upload, Thank You..

I followed 1Warlord instructions, and in the last (10th) step when I click on Update, it says "Wrong folder selected!".
The default Destination folder that it gives me is c:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\tools, but it doesn't work if I erase \tools, or if I write only C:\OrCAD. It doesn't work with Admin rights neither.
I placed the orcad_16.0_patcher.exe file in C:\OrCAD, but also tried from c:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.0\ and it doesn't work. It always gives me the same message - "Wrong folder selected!".
What should I do, any help?
try
Hi kicanbgd
10. Copy orcad_16.0_patcher.exe to the installed folder C:\OrCad\ and then run it - Destination folder C:\OrCad\OrCAD_16.0\tools, click on (Update).

If that doesn't work, install ALL products and then repeat step 10.
hai 1Warlord..
i have done with your steps and everything is ok. i changed the license file to orcad16.lic and then i started the server and status bar shows that server started sucessfull but if i reread the server, it shows "REREAD SERVER FAILED".
i entered the host name as glock18_PC(is this format correct??).

so i cant open capture cis and many more and it result in license error..
but orcad pcb editor and other utilities like pad designer are working fine..

plz tell me what to do asap..
i have a deadline to submit the project in orcad..
glock18_PC

glock18 is the host name..
is this format correct to enter in installation and license file??
hint: DO NOT INSTALL ANY M$ Win7 UPDATES BEFORE THIS. I had to reinstall Win7 twice before the app install would complete. If I updated, it would hang at the end of the second cd.

FIRST install OrCAD, THEN update win7.
Hi!

Could anyone please please send me the license_manager from SHooTERS folder???

i really need it!

email: tontorilo@gmail.com

Thank You!!

For those of you who have problems with this:

When you click on "Start Server" in License Manager Tools and then on "Reread License File".

And then you get a error like "reread server failed".

You have to type in your host correctly at the first line:
"SERVER this_host ID=07071982 5280".

You see where it says: "this_host".
It's there where you should type in your full computer name. And leave "ID=07071982 5280" as it is. This is a common mistake that many has done. Including me before I figured it out myself after 10mins...
(Yeah yeah it says clearly change "this_host" blablabla...)

Hope this helps for some of you.
I cant find the filename Setup.exe in the entire folder Cadence.OrCad.v16.0-SHooTERS

could somone plzzzzzz help me!
there aian't no setup.exe file found in both folders(CD1 &CD2). all i can see are zip files and .r*** extension files. How can i make it work without any executive file. Help Me out guys.

manuu.er@gmail.com

In my install dir there were not such dir 'license_manager', neither can I find some Cadence License Manager in the Start Menu.
Can someone send me this license_manager or show me some way of solving this?
is it possible to use parametric sweep in this version?
When following 1Warlords instructions I get stuck at point 7, when I'm trying to save the server I get a notice that I need admin rights to confirm the settings. But the problem is that I'm admin already so I have no idea how to fix it...

Can someone help me out? I've set the orcad16.lic to the correct hostname
I'm getting the RWSetO2K3Color message and updating PATH didn't help (I put %CDSROOT%toolsbin as the first entry in both system and user path, and also rebooted just to make sure). Windows 7 64-bit.

Does anybody have any other hints?

Thanks!
^ Figured it out, from OrCAD forum:

---
Copy the DLL from within the installation to the required directories, in this case you just need to get the RWUXThemes.dll from the "toolsbin" directory into the "toolsCapture" directory, if you are also using OrCAD PCB Editor, you will need to get acopy to the "toolspcbbin" directory as well.
---
