In futuristic Chicago, when the teenager Beatrice ( Shailene Woodley ) complete 16 she has to choose between the different factions that the city is divided . They are five , and each represents a different value , such as honesty , generosity , courage, and others. Beatrice surprises everyone , even herself when she decides the faction of fearless , choosing a different family , and having to leave home . By joining Dauntless , she becomes Tris and will face a journey to dispel their fears and find out who is real . Furthermore , Tris meets Four , a more experienced guy in her faction , and that it manages to intrigue and enchant it at the same time.
